What is it?
The most recent UN Climate Change Conference, COP26, was held in Glasgow at the beginning of November 2021. This was an opportunity for action. Not just for the countries and delegates attending. But for all of us to challenge what we, and what the construction industry, can do.
Stride Treglown in England and Wales, TODD Architects in Northern Ireland and Ireland, and Keppie in Scotland joined forces to host an eight-week programme of free events counting down to COP26.
Starting in Cornwall and ending in Glasgow, each of their offices hosted a week of provocation and inspiration, through debating and doing, in collaboration with local organisations.

The route
The Climate Action Relay was an eight-week programme to drive knowledge exchange, best practice and positive action on the climate emergency.
Led by three top 100 architectural practices, the relay saw an event programme move from south to north via regional hubs each week, finishing in Glasgow as COP26 began.

Keppie
Keppie is an internationally successful practice. It’s not just our size or successes that keep us out in front. Design is central to every decision we make. And we make all the decisions. There’s no plc to answer to, no rules to stick to. We have the freedom to be entirely adaptable and responsive.
With internationally prominent figures including Charles Rennie Mackintosh amongst our past principles, our current team of designers are rightfully proud of the richness of our history. We are also enthusiastically passionate about the legacy we leave. It’s more than architectural style or iconicism, it’s about instilling values and qualities into buildings which make them enjoyable, useful and inspirational for those who use them today, and for future generations. For us, this is real pragmatic, international, people-focused sustainability.
Whilst we have a collaborative, creative, curious and charismatic spirit, we consider our strength as leading architects lies in our deserved reputation for practical thinking and technical excellence.
