Together with other designers and creatives we need to create “buildings, cities and infrastructures as indivisible components of a larger, constantly regenerating and self-sustaining system”

Architects Declare, 2019

Circular economy is a topic discussed frequently in relation to achieving self-sustaining cities. It is a purist idea of removing waste from the chain to end environmental exploitation. However, what are the practical steps we need to take to achieve this? Where can we take precedents from and can it be done in the UK?

In this talk Re-Fabricate collective will be addressing these questions through case study examples of their work and that of others to explore the practicalities of achieving this ambitious goal.

Speakers

Re-Fabricate is a collective of young architectural professionals unified by the ambition to eradicate waste from the design, construction and manufacturing industries. Our members are all individually and collectively engaged in the wider questions facing the profession. In September 2019 we founded Re-Fabricate, a circular economy inspired research project intended to instigate industry-wide change, starting with young professionals.

Since then, the group has undertaken a variety of engagements and collaborations, with a few key aspects in common with a number of common key features including; teaching, promoting, encouraging and inspiring the new and current generations to embrace circular economy, in conjunction with construction.

If you are interested in young, passionate, greenhead eco warriors and waste reuse, please join us, we would love to see you on the other side of the screen. We promise your time will not be wasted!
