Net zero carbon now has generally agreed definitions and measuring tools, and is starting to be delivered, but only in limited quantity and location. Join us for a panel discussion on what is preventing net zero carbon being delivered in the regions, with views from a developer, a contractor, an agent, an engineer and an architect.

John Wright, Director – Stride Treglown
John is head of the Bristol office. He is an architect with 25 years’ experience across multiple sectors, with particular expertise in office and workplace design. John is Vice-Chair of the BCO Regional Committee for South West England & South Wales and a member of the BCO ESG Group, which helps steer ESG guidance in the office sector. As Sustainability Director, John is leading the drive for Climate Action within the practice.

Rory Carson, Vice President – Mapletree
Rory is responsible for the Asset Management of Mapletree’s 195-acre Green Park, Reading – one of the UK’s leading business parks which is home to over 60 companies, 7,600 employees and provides 1.6 million sq ft of grade A office space. Over the last 18 years, he has been directly involved in the Thames Valley and wider South East office market working for Knight Frank, M&G Real Estate, Oxford Properties and now with Mapletree. In his younger years, he was a student in the Thames Valley at both The University of Oxford and The University of Reading. Currently, Rory’s role is to ensure that Green Park’s occupier-centric ethos underpins all that is done on the park – from the day-to-day interface with occupiers and processes through to the wider strategy. Green Park’s achievements, endeavours and enduring success are a testament to Rory and his team’s absolute commitment to the needs of its occupiers.
Leigh Hughes, CSR Director – Bouygues
Hannah Waterhouse, Director, National Offices Team – JLL
Hannah Waterhouse works within the Bristol office agency market. Acting for occupiers, developers and investors across all mediums she has worked within the market for the last 18 years and has been witness to many changes and developments within the sector.
She is currently working on the agency side for the on the only spec NZC building in the Southwest – EQ Bristol, and is seeing first hand how views on sustainability from all stakeholders are changing for the better.

Matt Smith, Partner – Method Consulting
Matt is a Partner with Method Consulting and leads their Bristol office. He is a chartered building services engineer with 25 years’ experience in the construction industry and has delivered many building projects through his career, both large and small scale, across most project sectors throughout the south-west of England and in London. His experience includes new build and refurbishment projects in the public and private sectors. Matt understands and advises on the importance of designing in sustainability from the outset, and he has a good working knowledge of the industry systems and accreditations for assessing building performance and sustainability.
Michela Ravaglia , Senior Associate Architect and Certified Passivhaus Designer
– Stride Treglown
Michela is a Senior Associate Architect and Certified Passivhaus Designer with B Corp Stride Treglown and the Residential Lead for London, specialising in working on complex and large-scale, mixed-use projects in the capital. Passionate and a strong advocate of sustainability, championing fabric first design, net zero carbon and circular economy, a major focus of her current work is leading the company’s Net Zero Carbon and Passivhaus Strategy, sharing expertise and upskilling teams across the company, overseeing the carbon and Passivhaus aspects of projects across all sectors and supporting clients to navigate through the various carbon standards and assists them in developing their own briefs and carbon targets.
